When we have some clues like olive oil, pasta, wine, mafia and sunshine, roman ruins and renaissance palaces and we are to guess the place, where all these can be found galore, the answer would be unanimously Italy. But if you are restricting Italy within these traits, you are only declining the stature of Italy.

The Duomo of Milan

St Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museum of Vatican City

Mole Antonelliana, the Piazza San Carlo, and Museo Egizio, which is the largest Egyptian Museum outside Egypt in Turin

Pinacoteca gallery houses a number of collections of paintings, by Italian masters from the late 17th century by Pope Pius V.

Cuisine: Italians are very proud of their vast range of world class cuisine. Italy is known for its wine, Pastas and pizzas. There are many street restaurants which offer best Italian foods.

While visiting Spain, people don’t forget to venture Madrid, the capital but at the same time they somehow ignore nearby Toledo. But the fact remains that some exotic tourist destinations including some best artifacts of all time are awaiting the travelers in Toledo.

The town of Toledo has a historical significance. Located across the Tagus River, Toledo was the capital of Spain 15th century, when the capital was shifted to Madrid. But Toledo definitely has managed to retain the old grandeur till today.

A trip around the boundary of the city will alone reward its visitors with the views of the ruins of a Roman civilization.

There you can see Alcazar, built in 1085; a building which was built back to Roman times, now bears some of the greatest Roman artifacts. This large building has a stunning museum and a 13th century cathedral. The cathedral in tern houses a series of exquisite stained glass, delicate wooden carvings, stone sculptures and paintings, making it the ultimate destination for art lovers.

Casa y Museo de El Greco is the house of the Greek religious painter El Greco, although it is said that the house was built by Samuel Levi, a friend and adviser to King Peter I of Castile. Don Benigno de Vega-Inclán started the museum in the year of 1910. . Today Casa y Museo de El Greco is the abode of some distinguished art works like ‘Vista y Plano de Toledo / A View and Map of Toledo’ and ‘Portrait of St. Peter’.

Hospital de Tavera was built for Archbishop of Toledo in the year of 1541. Today the building houses some great art collections including Titian’s ‘Portrait of Emperor Carlos’ V, Claudio Coelle’s painting of Princess Clara Eugenia, El Greco’s ‘Baptism of Christ’ and Ribera’s unusual portrait of a bearded woman.

Monasterio de Santo Domingo El Antiguo, an 11th-century convent, now displays religious items and early works by El Greco.

Checkpoint Charlie, located in Berlin has a historical significance. It used to be the crossing point between East Germany and West Germany during the Cold War. The name was given by the Western Allies.

History: On August 13, 1961, Berlin Wall was built to separate East and West Berlin, more due to some diplomatic reasons. Checkpoint Charlie was a crossing point in the Berlin Wall, located at the juncture of Friedrichstraße with Zimmerstraße and Mauerstraße. This crossing was built as the single crossing point for foreigners as well as the members of the Allied forces, even though the members of the Allied forces were not allowed to use the other crossing point, the Friedrichstraße railway station which was essentially designated for the foreigners.

The main function of the checkpoint Charlie was to register and inform the members of the Western Military Forces before entering into East Berlin. Foreign tourists were also informed but they were not checked in the West Berlin. The German authority in both West and East Berlin was not allowed to check any member of the Allied Military Forces in both Berlin and Germany.

The crossing, Checkpoint Charlie was removed on June 22, 1990. The previous Allied guardhouses are now shifted to the Allied Museum. But a copy of the American guardhouse was erected on the original place in the year of 2000. More over, the East German watch tower at Checkpoint Charlie was pulled down by the Checkpoint Charlie Service Company on December 9, 2000. A 140 meter long section of the Berlin Wall was erected again by the museum in 2004.

In the present point of time, Checkpoint Charlie has turned out to be one of the main tourist attractions in Berlin. This is free site for the visitors. The tourists can enjoy an open-air exhibit on the Gallery walls about the escape attempts, how the checkpoint was built, and its significance as a key point of Cold War. The tourists can take their pictures with actors, dressed up as allied military policemen standing in front of the guard house, for some fees.

A holiday definitely improves one’s life. Read on to know how a holiday improves life.

Health: Some people undertake holidays only to follow the advice of the doctors. Doctors often suggest ill persons to visit a beach side city or a spring dominated area. There are plenty of examples, which establish the fact that these people are actually benefited with the holidays, meant to improve their health condition.

Boredom: Most people prefer to go for a holiday, when they actually get bored of their daily routine. When you badly need a break, you want a couple of days, which you can spend without the daily life’s hazards and tensions. And what could be a better way to escape from the busy monotonous from other than a holiday? A break from the boring life brings in a fresh air as well as a lot of oxygen to live the further life peacefully.

Memory: A holiday is always related with loads of sweet memories, which are forever and which you can cherish for the rest of your lives. Just imagine when you will grow older and will open the pages of the album of your honeymoon, the romantic memories will arrest you so much that you will want to relive those moments again. Even after many years, these memories will bring a smile on your face.

Better social life: The monotonous daily routine often affects your social life. People tend to get irritated so easily. They prefer to confine themselves in their home. In a word they minimize socializing to a great extent. But a holiday can bring back the life in them, which in turn improve your social life.

Wife and Children are happy: When the home maker and the children of a family are happy, the family must have an improved life. So surprise your family with unplanned sudden holidays and retain the happiness and smile on their faces in order to experience a better life

Honeymoon is a lifetime experience for newlyweds, which they cherish for the rest of their lives. It is one of the most romantic moments of their lives. During a honeymoon, a couple spends some quality time with each other, lying in each others arms. So a honeymoon destination should be very romantic and at the same time should remain as an enjoyable and tension free time of their lives.

If you want to enjoy a tension free romantic holiday with your loved ones, consider New Zealand. New Zealand is such a romantic destination, which offers a number of dreamy locations for the newly wedded couples. It is the ideal place for reminding the wedding vows and living up one of the most memorable moments of your life. Probably that is the reason why New Zealand is gaining popularity among the newly weds couples.

The snowcapped view of the mountains of Alps is a heaven for skiers. On the foothills, there are beautiful glaciers. The country has bustling cities, rainforests, tussock fields, Southern Alps, Alpine tarns, fast-paced glaciers, active volcanoes, colorful springs and river valleys. All these beautiful destinations make New Zealand a perfect place for honeymoon.

A major portion of the land of New Zealand is occupied by national parks, reserves and heritage sites. The couples can also enjoy adventurous outdoor sports like bungee jumping, jet boat riding, rafting, heli-skiing, hiking, water-skiing, mountain climbing and caving. The couples can shop at Lambton Quarter. Name a thing, which you will look for in your honeymoon, and you will find it in New Zealand.

If you want to avoid the outdoor activities while indulging into romantic private escapes, New Zealand offers space and privacy amidst green, abundant flora and fauna, snow-capped mountains and rivers, suitable for the lovebirds. You can enjoy skiing at Arthur’s Pass or kayaking in Fiords or you can simply enjoy walking through the lush valleys of New Zealand holding the hands of your partner.

Looking for the ultimate Sun-Sea-Sand vacation, explore Algarve. Algarve offers some of the most beautiful beaches of Europe as well as the world. In this age, when political insecurity is ruining the travel industry, Algarve is successful to retain its appeal and charm to the world. Another plus point of the place is that, Algarve is accessible from anywhere Europe. Moreover, Portugal itself is a very small country in Europe, so exploring Algarve seems to be easier. But the feature, which stands out excellently for the place is its wonderful, mild climate throughout the year.

Beaches: Algarve is a land of beaches. It has some of the most wonderful beaches in the world, like Praia de Barril, Praia da Armona, Meia Praia, Praia Verde, Praia Ilha de Tavira, Armação de Pera, Praia da Galé, Praia da Falésia, Praia da Falésia, Praia da Bordeira, Praia da Ilha de Faro etc. In all the beaches, the following facilities are given:

All types of Algarve accommodation keep a Complaints Register for inspection by the Tourist Authority. The accommodation prices don’t fall under any form of legal control.

A 50% discount on full meals should be available for under-8-children. An extra bed should be given if young children share a room with adults, but this facility is attached with a supplement of 25% or 30% on the room price.

Activities: Algarve offers a large number of outdoor activities like beaches, blokarting, casinos, cruises, exploring, fishing, golf, horse riding, kids stuff, nightlife, pedal kayaks, sailing, tennis, various kinds of watersports, 4WD ’safaris etc.

The more we think, the more the options appear. When we start planning for the much awaited vacation, the first thing occurs in our mind is the travel destination. And this is probably the hardest factor to choose, when everyone from the group has something to suggest. It is especially difficult because there are options galore. Someone rightly has said that choosing a travel destination is more like choosing a house. The only difference is that you don’t have to live in your vacation spot for your life.

First of all, you need to sit down with your group and discuss the following points. It is quite obvious that you will not agree on everything, but it is always advisable to go with the majority.

Purpose: Firstly figure out why you are looking for holiday. If this is simply because you want a break from your daily lives, your choice should be different from a family holiday or a holiday for your kids.

Budget: Secondly discuss your budget. If your budget is high enough, you can choose a posh or long holiday but in case of small budget it is always better to choose short getaways, thereby you have to choose a nearby place.

Distance: If you have a kid with you, you can not afford to undertake a long journey. So in that case, you have to select a nearby destination.

Time and duration: Time is a key factor in selecting your travel destination. If you want to vacation in winter, select a beach area while in case of a summer vacation select a mountainous or snowy region.

Again duration of your tour plays a vital role. If you have shortage of time, then you ought to select a nearby place, so that you can return within few days. But if you have 10 days or more leave, then you can easily sail out far away.

Conveyance: Select the mode of conveyance. If you will choose a flight or a train, you can select furthest station while if you choose to drive, you have to choose a nearby location.
